Dense Fog Advisory this morning, then the heat sticks around until a front blows in on Election Day HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Not very "November-like" weather with another steamy day to start the work week. Change is on the way when a stormy cold front blows in on Election Day, bringing the chance for showers and storms Tuesday with cooler temperatures the rest of the week. That sunshine Sunday sent afternoon highs to near record levels for November 1st. It reached 88 degrees in Houston Sunday and we'll be back there for Monday. It's a warm start today with some patchy dense fog, and another Dense Fog Advisory has been issued this morning through 10AM. What's the latest on the storm chances for Election Day? A big dip in the jet stream will likely send a strong storm system into the Plains on Election Day, which will force a stormy cold front into Texas as voters head to the polls. This is the kind of weather pattern that could bring strong storms with heavy rain and gusty winds. We expect the bulk of the rain in the afternoon with the front clearing alter Tuesday night. So at this time it looks like the earlier the better to get out and vote on Election Day! What can we expect after the front moves through? This cold front on Election Day is not just a stormy front, we'll also get a cool down afterwards. It'll be cool and breezy on Wednesday as the cooler and drier air begins to funnel in behind the front. This means we'll see morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the 70s beginning Wednesday and lasting potentially through the weekend. What are you tracking in the tropics? The Atlantic Basin remains quiet heading into the last month of hurricane season with no tropical development expected over the next 7 days.
