KPRC suspends Daniella Guzman following reports of complimentary

Mmm hmm.Apparently, a reporting agency found out that elected officials were receiving gifts and asked for receipts. Guzman was on the list along with several Harris County officials. Was she wrong as a News Anchor? I don't know, but apparently KPRC has a Code of Ethics policy in place and she violated it by accepting the tickets.

I don't see how it's the Chronicle fault for reporting this. Their merely reporting the facts of the matter. Now, an argument can be made as to whether or not KPRC should have suspended her over this. Personally, I don't think so. As it is, she's a local celebrity. Because of that, she got gifted a perk stemming from that position.That said, many ordinary people get perks from their positions that they wouldn't otherwise have. Work at a stadium? One might get a free ticket to an event for family or friends, etc. So, I think KPRC was a little heavy handed with this one.

former Houston City Council member and Democratic Harris County judge nominee Letitia Plummer;
HCSCC board appointee Elsa Flores; and Erica Lee Carter, the daughter of late U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee who recently became Harris County's administrator.

This is got to be the most ridiculous thing I've read latelyReally what did she do wrong? She just did what everybody else is doing and getting away with every damn day.Good for her she got to go to two amazing events. Hell I'd rather see her go than many other people I don't want to really mention.I'm so happy I live my life by acronym such as K.I.S.S and M.Y..O.BI mean, she didn't steal them. It's a perk of the job. Somewhere along the lines, I know everybody on this platform has had perks of a job.Don't lie!!

My personal feeling is Who Cares .

News reporters of any kind in this country are usually barred from accepting gifts worth more than $25 of any kind.
Industry and company standards dictate this.

Guzman, 44, attended both the Bruno Mars concert on April 22 and then a June 17 World Cup match between Portugal and the DR Congo. Both events were held at NRG Stadium.She became wrapped up in controversy as one of several figures who had gained hospitality benefits to the HCSCC, according to The Texas Voice, which requested documents to reveal the ticketholders' identities.Guzman received three tickets to the World Cup match and brought her parents, where the trio enjoyed the action from a luxury suite.After the 1-1 draw, Guzman shared a vlog-style video to Instagram, capturing her entire trip to the match."Experiencing a World Cup game in Houston with my parents was a dream come true," she wrote in the caption, failing to say how she scored the tickets.


The journalist also accepted four tickets from the county corporation to attend the Bruno Mars concert on April 17.The outlet claimed Guzman's acceptance of the tickets was in violation of the station's policies regarding conflicts of interest."Our station takes journalistic ethics very seriously along with anything that could potentially create even the appearance of a conflict of interest," KPRC-TV General Manager Sean McLaughlin told the Texas Voice before Guzman was suspended.

The four-time Emmy winner was anchoring the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. news broadcasts at the time of her suspension.Guzman has not publicly commented on her suspension.Other local figures to accept the tickets were revealed to be politicians, including Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, all four Harris County Commissioners, and a labor union active in Democratic Party politics, the outlet reported.The elected officials each scored multiple tickets to several World Cup matches hosted by the county.In addition to the local politicians, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, State Representative Mary Ann Perez and Elsa Flores, the President of the Texas branch of the Service Employees International Union also received complimentary tickets to matches.nypost.com/2026/07/3 0/media/texas-news-a nchor-daniella-guzma n-suspended-for
