@susanbanthony : I hope people heed this warning. This isn't just true for necrotizing fasciitis, but ALL bacteria that can be found in all bodies of water. That's how I lost my leg. MRSA infection from the Guadalupe River. It was running low and slow, and conditions were perfect for bacteria. I never even realized I had a cut on my foot. The bacteria spread so fast. Two weeks later, I'm in an ambulance, dying.

I dont remember ever hearing about this in my youth. Like you we swam and waded in every type of water source. But, this took my brothers life. Now im scared for my kids and grkids.
