Lights, camera, Mattress? The life of Mattress Mack is being made into a movie.
Mattress Mack on the big screen?It looks like Houston's own Jim McIngvale, aka Mattress Mack, is heading to Hollywood -- or, at least, his life is. Deadline reported today that the owner of the Gallery Furniture chain and well-known area philanthropist is going to be the subject of a biopic, called "Mattress Mack," starring Billy Magnussen (from "Lilo & Stitch" and most recently "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey" and "Violent Ends") in the main role. Also starring are Darby Lee-Stack ("The Holdovers"), Rob Corddry ("Ballers"), and Dianna Agron ("The Chosen One").
This will be the first feature-length film made by Houston director/actor Shane Andries who is also writing the script. Production is expected to start this month."Jim McIngvale's story is one of resilience, heart and community," Magnussen said in a statement to Deadline. "I'm honored to help bring his incredible journey to the screen and to collaborate with such passionate storytellers in capturing the spirit of 'Mattress Mack' and the city of Houston."According to IMDB.com, Andries has a history as an actor, appearing in such shows as "The Chosen," "1923," "Lioness," and "Fear the Walking Dead."
