We got back a few hours after a fun-filled three days. It was nice to walk one of the wonderful trails in the Groves. Bought a few toys at the toy store in Kingwood. Went shopping in the Heights and had lunch there. Mostly just caught up with friends. Won't see them until after the new year because too much going on for both of us. I am hoping that they will come visit us. We pretty much volley back and forth. I'm looking forward to a short break from the road running.

Wanderer : For sure. We recently retired so we are out and about at nearly every opportunity. But it feels good to plant it for a while.

RajunCajun : That is so awesome as I am very close to retirement in a couple of years but I actually checked out of my job five years ago taking time to work with my older daughter competition career and now I am in the beginning phase of my youngest career.
Wanderer : We checked out of ours several years ago. Neither of us could stand it anymore. We're paying through the nose for health insurance but dh can hit Medicare in January so that helps.

RajunCajun : I am just hoping for the best but I got other plans and aspirations for the future.
Wanderer : Having goals and dreams in retirement is super important.

RajunCajun : I actually have to remind my coworkers that very statement you mentioned. I remember in mid career all the people who retired from my job die a year or two later. I said hell no and vowed that I will have a plan afterwards and thankfully I am in the beginning phase of that movement.
Wanderer : We are having so much fun. I can't imagine being bored in retirement. We are constantly at exercise classes, eating out with friends, engaging in hobbies, household chores, or providing care for our new granddaughter. We travel and camp together. He does woodwork and golf. I work on puzzles and read. But be bored? Never! In fact, we just got home but will head out to dinner and karoke night with friends at our golf club house. I'm kind of tired but will press on. I'll get through it. lol.
