Also, it took 45mins for the water to increase by 26ft. It reminds me of what happened to Kingwood during Harvey.

TortieMama : No. I think living in the Bayou City, and seeing what flash flooding looks like first hand for the Lake Houston area... not sure I would've been in the vicinity. At the same time, as I type this, the thought of having to pack everything up early and quickly isn't appealing either.

Experiencing Harvey has changed my outlook on rainy weather, too. Last July we went camping near where Beryl hit the shore. I kept an eye on the weather and got home the day before it hit. So, I don't know. It's one of those you won't know until you're in the situation type of scenarios.

eighteen : Thank goodness you got out of there!! I think you are right...we have lived here long enough to be concerned when the skies get a bit dark. We lose power in Kingwood when the sun is out, no wind, blue skies etc that when it looks iffy, I run to charge my phone!
