@KathyMarshall :
I remember that case . I forget all the details. I have been called for traffic cases but never served.

@Catmae : I received a Jury Summons for our daughter that lives in Europe since 12 years. Does not have a driver license of Texas anymore, this is the 2nd time I received one. Not sure by what they go to select? I think even last time we put in that she does not live in Harris County anymore.!

Yes, miserable experience. Drug possession case. I think some of my fellow jurors were also in possession 🤬😝

@SnoopSister :
I've been called three times.
The first time I was not picked.
The second time I was picked to be on the jury, but he settled right before we got in the court room.
The third time I was picked and served on the jury. Found the guy guilty for driving drunk (drove into a lake). There were some special circumstances (police issues) that we had to get through to be fair. But he was definitely guilty. ; )

@AGLLM: SMH! I had heard that jurors were called based on voter registration. Whether or not you voted recently, didn't seem to matter. Is your daughter still on the books here?

@Catmae: It seems like jury summons mailing lists are rarely updated, whether you've moved or more sadly 'moved on'. So sorry you’re experiencing that. I’ve always heard that jury summons are mailed out using voter registration records, whether or not that person voted recently. And you are absolutely correct. Inaccurate rolls could lead to voter fraud.

Back in the 60s/70s in Philly, there were very real voting fraud cases where people who had passed away were on the voter rolls and still 'actively casting ballots', some multiple times to influence local elections! Our embarrassing motto at the time was, "Philadelphia: Vote Early And Often". 🙄

@KathyMarshall : No you made me look, yes her name is still on there, permanent address here, mailing address it shows the Europe address. Oh man, now I may have to do some investigation, since technically for federal elections she would be eligible to vote as an out of Country citizen.
But now the question remains, what records do they use for juror selection?

@MrsT: I'll have to respectfully disagree based on a law firm's website, screen shot above. They report that it’s a combination of Voter Registrations and Drivers’ Licenses.

@KathyMarshall : The strange thing is that it has MY current address. HE never lived here, or was registered here for any reason. I'm becoming more convinced that voter fraud does exist. Whoever is in charge of voter validation, needs to do a better job!

@KathyMarshall :
You definitely don't have to be registered to vote. My husband got called continually and he never registered because he believed that.
Not saying they can't get your info from there, just that it's not a way to get around being called.

"Jurors are drawn from lists of state taxpayers and licensed drivers as well as from voter registration rolls. Do not give up your right to vote in the hope that you will avoid jury duty. Chances are, if you pay taxes or drive a car, you will still be called."

SnoopSister : That would be awesome!! Did you do any "mean mugging"??? I would have, lol!

@Catmae : Before it was my turn to take a step forward, turn to the right and say "did I hit you?" (Hit and run at carnival the night before and returned on this night), the attorneys called for a discussion about whether on not we should speak. The drunken female defendant rubbed her butt on the 2 way mirror,
said"f it. I did it".

I didn't get to keep my index card with the "3" on it.

I qualified for this adventure because I was a strawberry blonde. I had to take my glasses off so things were kinda blurry and I missed the full experience.

My stepson finally quit crying when they released me. He was 10, go figure.
