Granddaughters are having a joint Birthday Party this Saturday. Since they're Irish Twins (13 months apart and I'm pretty much Irish so save your outrage) this should be a nice change. Now I don't have to drive down to the other Grandparents house twice in 2 months and risk my life going there. Their street is ok but sheesh some of the ones to get there are just downright scary.

My two youngest grandsons are Irish Twins (their other grandparents are 1/2 Irish). They will be having separate parties again this year. It's a long drive for me ...

@Catmae : Yeah I told their Mom they're little and right now they don't care s she should save her money while she can. Cheaper to throw 1 really good party than two good ones and have to cook both times.

@Cbear : Thanks my friend. They are in their feels this week. The 4 year old thinks she's going to be 17 and is ready to move the heck out with her attitude LOL! We have had some tough battles this week.

My sister and I are 11 months apart and we heard the Irish Twins thing often. It wasn't until we were in our late teens that we learned it was actually an insult.😅

My brother and sil had Irish triplets - twin girls 8/19/88, a son 8/18/89.
Once a year, they would have 3 with the same number of years.

@brightlights : We've never thought of it as an insult, even though it is directly about being close together. My Dad and Aunt were 1 yr and a day apart, so we always heard the term. I guess some thought it was insulting, just like saying Bless your heart I guess.

@chasinghosts : I guess it's widely perceived as shade towards Catholic Irish immigrants and their inability to control themselves in the bedroom. I don't think anyone cares anymore.
