Maxsmom : Yes, and yes. They took up residence in the box a while back when it was located in a different area of our yard. A place near where we would have BBQs. I did have two beekeepers that were going to come out and take them but after many back and forth, they just never showed up. So, I moved them to a safer area in the far back corner of our yard.

That's a swarm, surprised they haven't moved on. or maybe they're the ones that are being left behind. Wonder if they are building comb inside. Had the same thing happen in our yard a few years ago, but they took up residence inside one of my Oak trees.
