Been pointing this out for a month now. Media keeps bashing red state responses while blue state death tolls rise. Maybe 'the experts' are on different pages.

@M1cha3lo0o : So what this graphic tells me is I'm about seven times more likely to die if I get Corona in a blue state...

@WeveBecomeEastHouston :

It's about population density....Add up the total square mileage of all those states and divide by their total populations...For example, let's do Texas and NY:

(numbers from google)

Texas has 29,000,000 people in an area of 268,597 square miles....That's about 108 people per square mile.

NY State has 19,450,000 people in an area of 54,556 square miles....That's about 357 people per square mile...

As you can see, NY State has 3 times the people packed in a square mile than Texas does...Thus, they should experience a higher transmission/infection rate statistically....Kinda the reason behind "social distancing"...

======

It was a nice try though.....

@EddyFree : so the leaders of those states should have done more then. Surely they are aware of population density statistics.

Most deaths have come from nursing homes. Particularly NY, because inhuman policies imposed on them. But PA, NJ and several others are also included.

@WeveBecomeEastHouston :

Ask EddyFree why every county in the Union shut down if population density is the only answer. Also can hr explain the non dense status on the blue states.

@EddyFree : You're kinda making some assumptions about the homogeneity of the distribution aren't you...?

@EddyFree : Not only that but MOST of the blue states on the list center around one contiguous part of the country which contains some of the busiest transportation hubs in the world making containment that much harder.

@tinytim : Probably because they don't contribute in a statistically significant way. Arkansas for example has a little over 100 deaths. They probably lose that many to meth every other week.
