@West-Tex :
My take on things…..
The storm is still experiencing strong wind shear which is evident by all the convection south of the center of circulation. It is moving West over South Louisiana and interacting with land causing it to decrease in intensity. It will emerge back over water overnight but it doesn't look like there will be enough time for any intensification before crossing into Texas near Galveston as a very disorganized TS if that. The coast will experience TS force winds but nothing destructive. Houston about 20 mph. With the majority of rain well off shore it will not be a flooding event. Tides will be higher along the coast. Now here's the rub…one of the hurricane models for the past three days has predicted Bertha to become a hurricane and moving into the central Texas coast, while the other three hurricane models keep it less intense. Yesterday two more models up Bertha to hurricane strength. Are they correct, probably not but they're out there. As long as the storm stays close to the coast it will continue to weaken. The three models having Bertha forming further South as it leaves Louisiana giving it more time over water. That doesn't appear to be happening at this time. Bottom line tomorrow will be breezy with a chance of brief rain showers. Everything over by Friday with a hot dry weekend.
