A Houstonian's worst nightmare....A/C goes out on a Sunday of a

West-Tex : Blower motor died…tech going to call tomorrow. After he checks on availability and price. He did warn me it wouldn't be cheap. It's July in Houston, money is not a consideration here……

Smokeybear :Be careful here...Very seldom do "Blower Motors" fail....They are like big fans....They have a large "capacitor" driving them that is prone to go out...And that's not to be confused with the capacitor on the outside compressor unit(which is also cheap to replace)....Last time I had my AC serviced was for this reason, the unit would "click on" but not "blow"....Was a bad blower motor "capacitor"....Luckily the small "company" I had been doing business with for years correctly diagnosed it without trying to "upsale" me a new motor....SAD part is that they charged me over 2x RETAIL for the part....Then they said that my system needed a Freon charge and charged me 2x retail for the Freon.....Last time I did business with them....

I hear you. Been with Maad Air for 10 years. I do trust them. I think if he could have replaced the capacitor and got me up and running he would have….

Smokeybear: So sorry your AC broke down. That's hard when it's so hot and humid. The best news is that you still have power and can have fans move air around or just blow directly on you! That was the hardest part for me during Beryl last year. Sleeping was a rare luxury due to no AC and no power for even a fan for 5 days. Hopefully they'll have you back online soon! Meantime it sounds like a dip in the pool is called for! Or a cool shower before bedtime. Good luck!

Maad Air came through again.... They called this morning and gave me the install price of the new fan motor. My quick thinking coworkers immediately got the AED and got me started again. Said they could install this afternoon, told my supervisor by by and I'm back up and running.
