My mom got scammed
Got an email from my aunt asking her to buy an Amazon gift card. Only 250 bucks but when she told me I was just like I was when the kids would get hurt. Asked if they need to be put in the home already, afterwards I felt like a POS. She wasnt mad though, but i was apologizing for saying it. Anyway, my aunts email was compromised and they were emailing her contacts, thers lles a special place in hell for those scum bags

I've told my dad never ever click on email links or text messages that say he owes money or he has won money! I have to remind him every two months! I'm sorry this happened to your mom! 😡

@ginx : That makes me so mad that she fell for it, but it is getting harder and harder to know what is not legit. I am surprised that I have not done that myself with any of the scams that float around.

There are new rules in today's world. NEVER send money to anyone or any institution before you call to verify if it's legitimate. And don't use any phone numbers the bad guys give you. Just call the regular numbers for that person or company.

Sorry to hear this. It is scary because yeah, it can be hard to tell the difference between a legit request and a scam. The scammers have gotten so good at it. I received a threatening email about a month ago. It said that I had been hacked and that they had video and records of me visiting nasty websites and "pleasuring myself in front of the camera" and then gave me a deadline to send money so they wouldn't tell all of my friends and family about my nefarious activities. Needless to say, I deleted it. I rolled my eyes as I did. I would have laughed, but I can't really find anything funny about an attempted scam. The email also told me not to call the police. eye roll. I didn't but not because I was afraid.
