It's a bad neighborhood! What parents let their 10 year old out, at 11pm to ring doorbells??

@justanirishgirl : Agree. However, both parties bear responsibility for how this played out. Kid should not have been out disturbing the homeowner. From what I read/understand, homeowner' "castle" did not seem to be threatened. Very unfortunate!

I hope the family sues the homeowner's *** for everything he's worth. With that said, I can remember the exact moment my friends and I decided to stop playing that game. Too many homeowners were reaponding with guns and we vowed to never play that game again. We were probably around 10 ourselves, SMH. I know kids are big nowadays, but there's no way you can mistake a young child for an adult; and you cannot shoot perps who are running away.

Both families have some guilt. A kid should not be out that late and know better but kids will be kids not old enough to process the danger. My son would not have been outside alone and know better to not ring doorbells. That being said, the home owner was not in any danger but probably fear for his family. I wonder how it will play out? Parents need to know what their kids are up to.

KHOU Story Here Excerpts: "Investigators said the boy and several other children had been ringing doorbells at multiple homes. After they rang the doorbell at a home on Mimbrough Street, police said someone chased one of the kids near an intersection and shot him multiple times in the back. The 11-year-old was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries." ============ Chased the kid and fired....NOT "self defense"!....

Horrible! Drunk or drugs mention on the man?. I can see he could chase them to talk to them but shots at a kid, horrible.

And yet I've seen posts about these issues on other social media in our area. There's always some yahoo who says we did this when we were kids what's the big deal? You can't get it through their heads that this is now a dangerous game. To make matters worse, there are social media challenges where kids are actually kicking doors and really terrifying people. Not cool, but there are too many parents who just don't care.
