So my son is wanting to break his lease and get out of this dreadful apartment. HE needs suggestions, resources etc. Attached are some pictures of the condition of the bathroom. He has reported and reported and reported. Nothing gets done. Last summer..no A/C for 3 weeks because maintenance said that the outside unit was running. Ok...not cool inside however. That finally got resolved. The only things that I can come up with are: threaten to report to various agencies suggest as BBB, Houston apartment association. He is going to tell them he is posting reviews with these pictures on Yelp, google reviews, **** consumer and what ever else we can find. Suggestions welcome please and thank you.
I don't know if this would be enough to break a lease but if he has told management and they are not responding then I would definitely get out of there! This is a health hazard! He has pics and I can't imagine how it would hold up against the argument. The landlord has definitely failed to maintain property thus has made it unsafe. I would tell my son to GTH out of there fast…IMHO🤷♀️

I also did not know that he didn't have A/C for 3 weeks in August! He has a law firm that in mind in the event he needs it. He is going to break the lease and if they threaten him. . he is going to show the pictures and tell them that he will go to Amy Davis of KPRC station (kingwood resident) and report this as well as Wayne Dolcefino. I told him to go to BBB and Houston Apartment association and post reviews on Yelp, Goodle and **** consumer. We don't like the threaten people but....9 months of these conditons? I think we are passed being patient here. Wish us luck. He has found a new place to live.
That would clean-up pretty easy, has any effort been made to clean it?
ginx : They have repeatedly cleaned up the mold but it is rusted out and the ceiling is falling in. They have condensation dripping on them if they are in there!
Does he have copies of his communication with the landlord?

I'd send mgmt a certified letter informing them of the conditions needing fixed....If not addressed, I'd find another place to live and break the lease.....I'd demand any security deposit back tell them I will sue them in justice court(formerly small claims court) for the deposit if tgey refuse a refund...Of course only sue if deposit is much more than court costs....The threat is free and may work.... Staying at poorly managed places will only mean more issues in the future....

ParksideRes : Really? I hope so. Thanks for the input. It would definitely be uninhabitable for me as I am dangerously allergic to mold to the point I may need an epi pen if it worsens. « Back to Chat
