@tflea :
The president of the United States does not even know what to do when the national anthem is sung.

President Trump allegedly broke flag code when he saluted the flag during Game 3 of the NBA Finals instead of placing his hand on his heart. Only men in uniform can salute the flag during the national anthem.
I'm just stating the facts.

@Andi7, in the past Presidents saluted the flag because they actually served in the Military. You can research why the role of President is considered a civilian role and not Military. Only uniformed service members are supposed to salute. Veterans and military personnel out of uniform can salute. Civilians aren't supposed to salute, but hey, people burn flags so who really cares about respecting the flag, amiright?

@Andi7, he actually doesn't hold dual anything. It's a civilian position, more like a political office... Commander-in-Chief. It holds no Military rank whatsoever; and, since he never served in the Military, it's disrespectful.

@MooMaw :
All the presidents from the Bushes on put their hand over their hearts when the national anthem was played. I think you referring to when they get off the helicopter they always salute the military men at the bottom of the steps.

@Andi7, you keep repeating he's the Commander-in-Chief. He is. Since he's one that's never served in the Armed Forces, he shouldn't salute the flag. @AMCLady : Uniformed personal must render a salute, acknowledging him as the Commander-in-Chief, a political position, however the President isn't required to return the salute. Again, in the past, you've seen Presidents who salute who have served in the Military, as it is optional for them to do so as *past* service members.
