HEB? They are about to be paid!
I'm sorry for their families. However, if as reported they stopped in the right lane of traffic, hazard lights flashing or not, they might have contributed to this accident. They should have pulled over on the shoulder.

There used to be posted minimum speeds on highways. Is that gone? Get off the damn road. Both parties are at fault. More to the truck driver, but a person has to know to not put themselves at risk like this Prayers to the families.

they could have - they appeared to have turned on emergency flashers and continued at a crawling pace in the right hand traffic lane instead of getting off of the road. This doesn't excuse the truck driver from not seeing them or taking evasive action, but they definitely created a road hazard.

My issue is with companies being sued for these types of things....If the truck failed in some way due to maintenance issues, OK, that's fine and on the company.....But if it was "human error", that should be 100% on the "human" that errored IMO.....

I am saddened by this tragic accident and loss of lives especially very young girls. A long time ago in a drivers education class, students were told to stop their cars immediately after incurring a flat tire or the rims would be damaged and expensive to repair. My dad a former tow truck driver, told me that it is not entirely true, as driving a few hundred yards will not significantly damage the rims after the tire is flat with enough rubber attached to pull over safely. I have had many flat tires in the past, and I am very terrified, even along the shoulders with passing cars, that I make the extra effort to pull over in a safer spot. Hell, even my dad told me the many horror stories of how he had close calls with idiot drivers, almost hitting his tow car or towed vehicles despite the many flashing lights turned on. Please, people teach your kids to change tires and pull over to a really safe spot and not rely on hazards to protect you as it is not a guarantee.
