Houston Restaurant Week Has anyone participated yet? We just made reservations for Acme Oyster House downtown.
Replies:
We have not. Probably won't. If we do, it will be one that is around here -- not that many to choose from. We don't like to go downtown all that often. I hope that you enjoy.
@mastiffrex : I usually go with friends, not sure when or where, Brennan's is a go to
@mastiffrex : We did Roma. I want to do Ninfa's because I have a gift card. I also have one to BB Butchers and that group of restaurants. Just trying to find the time.
Let me know about Acme.

Hoping to go to Fogo Da Chao this weekend. Depends on weather.
@mastiffrex : If you have never been before it is great. Also -- their alligator tacos are awesome too!
@MrsT : Last time I went to Ninfas w/friends, we were all very disappointed. We actually said we would do El Tiempo from now on.
@DAccountant : I've never been to the Uptown Ninfas location.
I actually have a birthday coupon for El Tiempo. You get a free entrée up to $20, that might be hard😂, and a free dessert

Yes! Take full advantage. I went yesterday to MAD. Next week Mastros. I would not recommend doing any of the brazilian places as you don't get as good of a deal. They are always a flat price for all you can eat and it doesn't seem like you get a break with restaurant week. You get the best bang for your buck going to an overpriced restaurant where you would normally not want to pay that much to try everything and this way you get the full courses.
@NikkiNik : I'm always looking at the menu prices and comparing to make sure I'm getting a good deal. 😂 I have a Palace Social gc but the food is the same price. A few years ago we did Pappas Steakhouse, that was a really big discount. I was thinking of Hearsay on the Waterway in the Woodlands for brunch. They're doing theirs on Fridays also.
@MrsT : I used to think some of the Pappas restaurants were expensive until I went to Pappas Steakhouse - it really is expensive!
Can I just go to Brennan's and get not only the 1st course but a 2nd course sized Turtle Soup?!?!!! And of course for dessert the Bananas Foster (because a 3rd course of the Turtle Soup might be a little weird!)

@RajunCajun : Do you remember when they used to have those offroad casinos in Louisiana (early 90s). I stopped at one between Lafayette and Alexandria and they had a restaurant attached. I tried turtle soup based on someone's recommendation and it was excellent!

I was surprised at how much I liked the turtle soup. 😂 Not a big fan of escargot though, taste like dirty mushrooms to me.
