TRAFFIC ALERT: ROAD CLOSURE IN ATASCOCITA

The Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) contractor is ready to begin constructing new pavement at FM 1960 and Atascocita Shores Drive, on the north side of FM 1960.
This work requires a total closure of Atascocita Shores Drive north of FM 1960 during the period of Monday, December 12, 2022 to Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Drivers can expect major delays and are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes.

@mastiffrex : IKR?? Trying to figure out how the heck I'm supposed to get to my granddaughter in an emergency.

Wondering why there is nothing that states that they will be shutting the bridge off at any point??
Also why is there no ferry in case of an emergency?? What if somebody hit and destroyed the bridge?

@chasinghosts : 1960 will not be shut down, you will still be able to cross the bridge and go West on 1960. You will not be able to turn left off 1960 onto Northbound Atascocita Shores Dr. From either direction on 1960.

chasinghosts : 1960 will not be shut down, you will still be able to cross the bridge and go West on 1960. You will not be able to turn left off 1960 onto Northbound Atascocita Shores Dr. From either direction on 1960.

Smokeybear : Yeah but it's going to take hours to get through there.

@chasinghosts : Maybe a little. With the cross street closed the light there will not cycle so 1960 hopefully will move through the area pretty smoothly. Fortunately it's only 3 days…..

@Smokeybear : 9 days for the first part. And you know there will be some that will need to turn left that didn't get the word. This will not be fun for anyone I fear, the the speeding lunatics from Huffman will be trying to make up their lost time on the bridge, so that's a whole different nightmare.

I would just suggest that anyone who doesn't need to be on the roadways over that way during rush hours or even from 2-7 weekdays may want to stay off them until they clear up this mess.

@chasinghosts : Oops missed that. A lot of people use Shores as a short cut to Kingwood to avoid WLP. That will put a lot of traffic in Pinehurst as they try to find their way out. That's my way out to 1960 so I will hole up for a bit or go out Pinehurst Trail.

@MrsT : Thank goodness and I hope that's the case, but imagine the scenario of 1 wreck on each at the same time, Atascocita Rd, Kingwood Drive, 99, and Northpark,. Literally an every day scenario. Now add wreck on the 1960 bridge, or WLH Bridge or 1960 or even the little 2 lane rd. from Huffman to Kingwood, having one as well. My mind is whirling with scenarios.

@chasinghosts : Don't imagine the might be before it drives you crazy. I hate all the construction but I guess it will be good at some point. I try to avoid it. I bet those stores are missing me!

chasinghosts : Don't imagine the might be before it drives you crazy. I hate all the construction but I guess it will be good at some point. I try to avoid it. I bet those stores are missing me!

@ladybeachbum : I'm not freaking out though, just pre planning what is most likely going to happen. My only reason to get in that mess would be to get to my grandchildren in an emergency. My sister lives off of Atasc. Shores but I can get there via the back way if I need to go there. Any of the stores can be reached but it will become difficult.
