@ParksideRes :
1. He had bullet holes in his coat, but not one bullet penetrated into his body. He actually had four, that was left out of the movie. But the fact, movie mentioned the bullet holes in his coat was good.
2. He had led a militia team before the French & Indian War started to confront the French.
3. He was refused a Royal commission from the British, only militia commission.
4. He had saved the Virginia militia regiment at the Battle of Monongahela.
5. The Indian chief told his men to stop firing at Washington after they had fired at him many times and did not hit him. These facts are left out of our school's history books. When I was young, I read a lot about Washington, and the American Revolution. These were not in the history books in school.

The Texas TEKS are more concerned about his revolution service, his willingness to walk away instead of seek power, his precedents as first president, and his high Civic virtue. Honestly with the number of standards that they cram into US history in middle and high school at the moment, there's not a whole lot of time.

@Genesis @ParksideRes : You guys should watch Ken Burn's The American Revolution. It's a six episode series, packed FULL of things that were never covered in the middle and high school history books. It's long, but so worth it.

This one might be worth the trip (and expense) of going to the movie theatre. I feel that most movies aren't worth the effort, but this one probably is the exception. I also enjoyed Michael-that one was worth seeing on the big screen.
Genesis reacted Catmae : Thanks. I'll look for it. #msg2191036
Genesis : It may require a PBS subscription. I watch it on Prime Video, but still requires that PBS thing. You can set it up for a 7 day trial and cancel once finished. I love my PBS subscription though. Lots of great content. #msg2191155
