ParksideRes : He was sitting in his car and got the Catmae glare. I was just too exhausted from my fun "activities" in the hospital to say anything. Any other day, I probably would have. #msg2189703

@Catmae : I would have acted like I couldn't get in the car. Then I would have stood in front of his car on the phone and stooped down to read his license plate number.

If he then asked what you were doing, pretend you didn't see him sitting there and just tell him that you called it in to be towed and they'll be there any minute.

I've done that a couple of times when I was with my grandmother.

@ParksideRes : He saw me stop and take that picture. After I got in my vehicle, I sat there on my phone for about 5 minutes. He eventually opened his driver's side door and then opened his hood. Like I said, I was so tired and it was so hot, I just didn't have the energy. I almost walked back in the hospital, I just didn't have the energy.

@lynnsgirl : Probably not for a few days. Family needs to find out and process first.

"Authorities with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said the driver of the pickup truck, identified as an "elder" in his late 70s, was detained at the scene. Investigators learned that the elderly man accidentally pressed the gas pedal and accelerated into the building."

This happens too often.

Once you reach your '60s you should have to do a vision and reaction time test on a yearly basis.

@West-Tex :
My mother was just there this late morning to get my dad's 80th birthday bundtlets. So sad. We already took driving privileges away from my dad a couple of months ago when he showed signs of dementia. I'm waiting to take them away from my 81 year old mom. So far she is good but you never know. 😥

As someone who has been in the car with a teen driver who has done this exact same thing (minus the crash), when they pedals get confused, that vehicle moves quick.

@Catmae :
This is what hurts the most. A kid trying to earn some money during her summer break only to meet her end. I think of my daughters when I hear stories like this.
