The recovery experience shows the efforts of high perseverance.
It is said if you go to the toy department late at night you may hear little girls giggling. The nuns at the orphanage tied the
girls together so they could all stay together. They were found hanging from a tree where the toy department now is.

I made myself watch the whole video. I have to admit it was long, but as a victim of two minor floods in Elm Grove in 2019, I wanted to see the whole thing. Flooding is a nightmare. I had to walk down the street at 9:00 at night in waist deep water to get my sweet dog. The rescue trucks would not help me. They were focused on getting people out. It is so sad to think of the people who died in Galveston and their relatives who had to pick up the pieces. Like you, I can't imagine!

I'm going to watch it. Having lived in Galveston for many years I am fond of its history. If you're interested there is a book. Isaac's Storm which chronicles before and after the storm through the eyes of the Galveston Weather Office Meteorologist at the time. I enjoyed being able to see him walking down the Galveston streets in my mind as I have done…
