From the internet

The rumor or confusion regarding a "low-income housing" development coming to FM 1960 near Will Clayton Parkway stems from a mix-up over a luxury development's name, "The Clayton,"and its developer, BHW Capital.

The Source of the Confusion
* The Name Match: BHW Capital developed a market-rate, luxury multifamily complexcalled The Clayton (also known as Clayton at Tour 18), located at 17935 Hunters Terrace Drive. Because it shares a name with the historic, low-income "Clayton Homes" public housing program in Houston, rumors spread that it was a low-income project.
* The Actual Complex: The Clayton is a 288-unit luxury development with amenities like a resort-style pool, a backyard putting green, a fitness center, and co-working spaces. Rents start around $1,135+. It is not a subsidized low-income housing project.

There is no more land near 1960 and WLH. Don't trust the "luxury" definition. Not sure where I will end up next, but the time is quickly approaching for me to get out of here.

Don't we need more affordable housing options given the rising costs of housing? I keep reading about college graduates having no hope of ever owning a house, and rent+bills taking up most of their income.

@Catmae : No, it hasn't.

Rent and mortgages take a much larger chunk of today's paychecks.

In the 80s, typical home took 3x yearly income. Now? Approaching 7x.

@eighteen : Wouldn't Section 8 vouchers bring that cost down?
