Help Wanted: Physical Therapist (Greater Houston Area)
General Responsibilities:
� Selects and administers various evaluations appropriately and accurately.
� Develops appropriate and effective treatment programs considering P.T. evaluation results, medical referral and status, patient needs, potential patient outcomes, and probable discharge situation.
� Selects and utilizes treatment procedures correctly and appropriately in accordance with treatment plans.
� Supervises and instructs patients in the following areas: functional activities and mobility (including, but not limited to, dressing, grooming, transfers, homemaking, cognitive perceptual motor/sensory integration) and prosthetic/orthotic use.
� Assess needs for orthotic/prosthetic devices and fabricates orthotic and adaptive devices as needed.
� Evaluates the need for and makes appropriate recommendations of durable medical equipment for patients.
� Demonstrates understanding of patient condition, prognosis, and potential: demonstrates understanding of rationale and application of therapeutic techniques.
� Demonstrates body mechanics, safe and efficient patient handling skills.
� Demonstrates manual and mechanical skills in handling equipment, constructing splints, and/or adaptive devices.
� Re-evaluates patient status and/or modifies treatment plan or techniques appropriately according to change in patient status: obtains written Physicians approval for major treatment changes.
� Coordinates patient�s treatment with other P.T. staff and other health professionals; participates in interdisciplinary conferences and reports with/to disciples on patient�s progress and discharge planning.
� Demonstrates ability to terminate treatment appropriate
� Handles written and oral communications promptly, effectively, and in compliance with the facility�s policies and procedures.
� Follows all facility policies and procedures concerning patient care.
Skills Required:
� EXPERIENCE:
1. 1 � 3 years as a registered Physical Therapist, and�
2. 6 months experience in home health preferred.
� EDUCATION:
Graduate of an AOTA approved School of Physical Therapy.
� SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. State Licensure by Texas Advisory Board of Physical Therapy.
2. Current registration with AOTA
3. Maintain current CPR certification.
4. CEU�s as appropriate.
5. Current T.B. screen of one calendar year or current chest x-ray report required.
6. Annual review of Infection Control Procedures, Universal Precautions, Fire and Client Safety, Body Mechanics, and Blood borne Pathogens is required.
� PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Moderate to heavy lifting may be required.
2. Moderate to longer period of standing and walking may be required.
3. Moderate to heavy stress secondary to client acuity may be encountered.
4. Ability to make visits to patients� homes in all types of weather conditions throughout the agency territory.
