Representatives from approximately 100 colleges, universities, trade schools and the U.S. military will be on hand to share information. Admission is free. All Humble ISD juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend with their families.
Mary Gustafson, Humble ISD director of student support services, said College Night offers families an ideal opportunity to explore the variety of options that are available to students after high school.
“What you do after high school influences the rest of your life,” Gustafson said. “Students will want to be aware of all their options so they can make a choice that’s right for them.”
Students will be able to learn about state and private universities from throughout the nation, military careers, community college programs and trade schools.
“There is something for everyone,” Gustafson said. “College Night offers families a chance to visit face to face with representatives and alumni and ask lots of questions. We always have excellent attendance because families find College Night to be a very helpful event.”
College Night is sponsored by Humble ISD’s Student Support Services Department and the Humble ISD PTA Council. Humble ISD parents Lisa Maddux and Marilyn Mann organize PTA volunteers who assist school district staff with planning and running the event.
“It is a great partnership that’s all about promoting education,” Gustafson said.
