Greetings!

 I am Fred Rosenberg and I'm running for Humble ISD School Board. You may know me as the owner, Mr. Fred of On the Park, the toy and candy store in Kingwood. But, you may not know my qualifications or what I can offer to improving the quality of education in our great community.

I received my B.S. Degree in Economics with a second major in Architecture. My business experiences range from being a Senior Designer with State Farm Insurance to Vice President of Sales for a Large Office Products Company.

I have , through my vast experience, the ability to critically evaluate a problem, develop a creative solution and implement a successful conclusion. Some of my past accomplishments and experiences include;

  -Board Member of the Lake Houston YMCA

  -Co-founder of KHS Safe Rides

  -Adult Advisor for KHS Safe Rides

  -Chairman of the Houston Area Safe Rides for the

   Boy Scouts of America.

  -Speaker at KHS and KPHS regarding

   "Making the Right Choices" and "Organ Donation".

Children Win....
...Wall Street Loses
(The Moment of Truth)
Since Position 1 is only a one year term, the issue that must be addressed is the financial situation our district is in. As everyone knows, the State of Texas will not fund us out of this mess, we can't tax ourselves out of it and we can't cut our way out without seriously hurting the education of our children and grandchildren. So, the only way left is to find additional funds. As a business owner, I am suggesting an idea that is out of the box; I call it "Children  Win.... Wall Street Loses". It's a partnership between local businesses, local citizens, the school district and the Education Foundation. It's simple: it's the transferring of swipe fees businesses incur  when a customer uses a credit or debit card. This amounts to 3 to 8% of the purchase. If a customer uses cash or check in lieu of a card, the participating business would donate the saved fees to the Education Foundation. Most local businesses would rather give this money to children then to Wall Street bankers. The incentives for businesses to participate would be additional cost savings incurred in collecting sales tax on credit card purchases, the additional business generated and the PR received by supporting our children. There are NO ADDITIONAL COSTS or TAXES to businesses, consumers or the Humble ISD. If the average cost of a card swipe fee is 5%, only half the consumers in our district participate, and if only half their discretionary purchases are cash or check,  the district could raise $22 million a year. This does not include any additional revenue from velocity of money which would generate $140 million to the local economy from keeping the $22 million local. My only question to the other candidates and the citizens of Humble ISD, why not try? The Moment fo Truth is now!! We have nothing to lose!!!
