On Dec. 3, the Symphonic Community Band and Chamber Singers, two of college’s popular performance groups, unite to perform the music of the holidays in concert at 7:30 p.m. in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre. This concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 281.312-1532.
On Dec. 5, the Kingwood Big Band performs in concert with the Kingwood Chorale for a new Kingwood holiday tradition at Kings Harbor. And last but not least, the Kingwood Pops Orchestra is slated to perform Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m., at the Nathaniel Center. The music program at LSC-Kingwood prepares students to earn an associate of arts degree or to transfer to a university program. Core courses include music fundamentals, theory and sight singing/ear training, and music appreciation. The college also offers voice and piano or more advanced students may select instruction in applied voice, piano, violin and viola.
In addition, there is a strong community education track which encourages local community members to participate in music classes and performing ensembles.
