The Humble Civic Center will echo with the sounds of friends and families enjoying food, beverages, music and more on October 15th, 2009 during the Tasting The Town event that will showcase area restaurants, caterers, and specialty vendor booths offering samples of their top menu items, plus beverages including beer, wine, margaritas and specialty coffees.  It has been nearly 15 years since our area has had an event like this for the community to enjoy, said event founder Jennifer Jozwiak.  With the exponential growth in our local area there are so many restaurants residents have never gotten a chance to try and this is the ideal way to bring the community and our restaurants together under one roof.

Event sponsors Mission Burrito and H-E-B will be on hand with unique booths offering something exceptional for event attendees.  Features by H-E-B will include samples from their distinctive Caf On The Run; which offers gourmet chef-prepared foods for a ready-made lunch or a no-hassle take-home dinner.  Their full-service bakery, floral and wine departments will also be highlighted.  Ensconced in the front right corner of the Civic Center Ballroom, Mission Burrito will delight attendees with a mini version of their local Atascocita store offering samples of the delicious items that make up their burrito bowls, tacos and famous fresh burritos; as well as a place to stop and relax for a few minutes while eating.

Event-goers will have the chance to sample items including authentic Italian cuisine, delicious sushi, sizzling Mexican dishes, amazing desserts as well as specialty espresso-based coffee drinks from McDonalds McCafe who is setting up a relaxing lounge area for attendees to savor an after (or before) dinner treat.  This is the perfect opportunity to grab some friends and go out to eat at multiple restaurants around town, rather than just one!  Everyone can find a new favorite place to eat, says Tiffany Bauer of Power Promotions; who is partnering with Jozwiak for the promotion and planning of the event.

Other prominent local restaurants participating include Hectors Mexican, Black Eyed Pea, Joes Crab Shack, Monterreys,  Italianos, Texas Roadhouse, Ricos Grill and Java Pi Cafe just to name a few.   Silver Eagle and Anheuser Busch will be featuring a Beer Bistro Booth with a chef on-hand offering food and beer pairings, and Messina Hof Winery will be sampling a variety of their award-winning Texas wines.

We are pleased to be able to donate a portion of the proceeds from this event to Including Kids, Inc; an autism support center located in the heart of Atascocita, said Jozwiak.  It was important for us to partner with a local charity to keep the money in our community benefitting those who live here.  As mothers themselves; the work InKids does with the parents, siblings, caregivers and the children touches home with both Jozwiak and Bauer.  Including Kids will be on-hand at the event with a booth offering a raffle to raise additional funds.  More information about Including Kids is available at their website www.IncludingKids.org

Tickets are now available online at www.TastingTheTown.com for $15, as well as at the Kingwood and Atascocita HEB stores and the Atascocita Mission Burrito location. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20. Children 5 and under are free.
