Can anyone point me to the rules as to what can or cannot be posted on the Classifieds? Firearms to be more specific... I am selling one of my AR-15 and don't know if it's OK to post... I've posted other firearms there, but I remember a thread on KDC about "scary" rifles. Mine isn't scary at all, no bayonets, no lasers with lights, it doesn't launch grenades... it's just a black rifle with some extras.

Items sold pending funds, but would be nice to know whether or not it would be ok to list an item like this for future reference

@Drekonix ?

heres KingwoodDotCom's answer on a KDC post

I don't have anything against these types of guns or the people who own them -- they look like a lot of fun. And we do allow all sorts of gun sales...simple pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, BB guns. I get a lot of flack for that already. But, I draw the line at machine guns, AK-47's, AR-15's, and other guns that look like these types of guns. Once the guns get "fancy" or "scary" to a significant portion of my audience, they'll get rejected. It's not a hard line, and I know there is some vagueness to it.

The sale of certain types of guns, like AK-47's or the gun above, make a significant portion of my audience uncomfortable, which is why I've decided not to allow them...this is a middle ground compromise between banning all guns, and allowing all guns of all types on the site.

Heres a link to the thread in case you wanted to read it in its entirety

I say post it to make them answer the question. It shoots the same way as any other semi-automatic pistol.

The question I have is why are you wanting to get rid of ANY gun?

@mm4731:

I 100% agree with that. My point was, if those folks that run this site are not responding to this question, post it. Then they will respond if they have a problem. Correct? From what I have seen, they have not responded. That's all I was saying.

@mw3538: I get ya. I know KDC has a policy in place but not sure if they put one here

Gun Sales Policy:

Simple revolvers, handguns, pistols, shotguns, rifles, and bb guns can be put up for sale in the Kingwood.com Classifieds section, but all gun ads are published or removed solely at the discretion of the classifieds moderator.

AK-47s, AR-15s, machine guns, RPGs, mounted guns -- and guns that look similar to these types of guns -- will be rejected by the moderator.

This gun policy is the result of much time and effort, and much discussion, to reach a policy compromise that is in between the views of people who do not want gun sales on the web site at all, and those who want unrestricted gun sales here. Kingwood.com is a privately owned and operated web site, and we do have the right to create a gun sales policy that we feel is appropriate for the web site. However, we do understand that this is guideline is set at a somewhat arbitrary cut off point, and are willing to discuss the policy at any time with those who disagree or have questions.

@Sandman:

Truthfully I did see this post Saturday evening but I wanted to give Joe the chance to reply personally because the policy that @mm4731 has already posted parts of is something he feels strongly about and I felt that the personal touch was necessary.

Unfortunately I didn't realize how busy he's been as of late so he didn't get around to seeing it until just today. It looks as though most of your questions have been answered, let me know if you have any others.

Thanks Everyone Emoticon

@mm4731:
Thanks for posting the info and link to the other thread. For the life of me, I couldn't remember when/where exactly that was posted.

@AtascocitaDotCom:
Thanks for the response.

@mw3538:
The question I have is why are you wanting to get rid of ANY gun?

Oh, I'm just funding another AR build... the one I'm selling is almost identical to another one I have. So, I'm putting another one together with free-float hand guards and a 1:7 barrel.

I'm also looking to get a semi-auto shotgun for duck season... got tired of the good ol' pump action... although I'm not selling that shotgun.

So, getting rid of one gun but replacing it with 2...
