As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Chef Ricky of 838 Sushi Asian Restaurant.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
At 838 Sushi, we offer a warm relaxing atmosphere where you can dine and wine with a wide variety of Sushi & Asian entrees and our full-service bar. We have Lunch Specials Daily 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sushi Happy Hour. Don't feel like cooking? You can dine in, take out, request delivery, and we can even cater your special events.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?

Food is very big in our culture. We wanted to bring an authentic Asian Restaurant to Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble and surrounding areas.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We have a full menu of delicious Asian Meals along with a full-service Sushi Bar and Beverage Bar. We are larger than the average Sushi bar with 9 booths, 10 tables and a full Sushi Bar. We also offer a kids menu that includes chicken nuggets so you can enjoy your taste for Asian even if the kids do not like it.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
Getting to see our customers face light up when we present them with their dish which we aim to look like a piece of food art. Also, seeing our repeat customers bring in their families to eat when the come into town to visit.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Anyone who is hungry and is looking for delicious and affordable Asian Cuisine or Sushi!

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I am Chef Ricky, I own and operate my business and serve my customers only the best! I named my restaurant 838 Sushi because the number 8 and 3 are lucky in the Chinese culture. I continued the pattern with an 8 because the next number is 3, then 8, then 3, meaning ongoing luck.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?

We have coupons on Kingwood.com for $5 off any order of $28 or more. Dine in or take out. OR $8 off any order of $50 or more. Dine in only. See Atascocita.com/838Sushi to print our coupon and for any exclusions. Come and try us out, you will have a new favorite Sushi restaurant!
