@bap :
I feel as though this is directed at me so I just want to be clear. This is not personal in any way and I appreciate the correction if I'm wrong. 😊
My conservative thinking is that I'd love if the money not used by families like mine, that don't need it, like mine could be "given "(key word) to other needs of less fortunate families. I literally said in my very last comment that I'd gladly donate my portion to the needy/hungry.
Please don't Misconstrue it as being that I don't want hungry children fed. Not what I'm sayin at all.
I have had to live my whole life conservatively and have worked incredibly hard for everything I have. I was born into a poor family and we counted and used every penny we had.
I am a very giving, community active person and anyone here on ADC that knows me, knows that and I am bewildered that I have to explain this after simply wondering or questioning how this works and why. This is the second or third attempt to correct the misunderstanding and now feel certain that I must be missing the big picture somehow since my simple think isn't cutting it.
I would think that more people wouldn't be so complicit in how waisted some of our tax dollars are being spent.
This issue struck a nerve in me because I don't know anyone personally, and I know a lot of people, that are in need of this type of assistance and I also know they would gladly donate their unused portion back to the school.
I will say this again. I am comforted by the fact that hungry children are being fed today. I believe all hungry children should be fed and none should ever go without.
My whole point to all of this is that I would gladly donate my child's portion of lunch fees to anyone in need, 10 times fold.
I Just wish it was an option versus use it or lose it, which in my head means, buy the food and if wealthier families don't use it, throw the food away. That's unacceptable to me.
I feel this portion of the system is broken and could be improved by using leftover money to help more families in need. If the left over money is being used to help children in other ways, then I'm good with that. That's what I would wish for and would hope that anyone, no matter what side you are on politically would want that too.
I can't believe how twisted my comments have become when to me, what I am saying is that I want even more than just feeding families breakfast and lunch, I want them fed dinner too.
