@AtascaGuy : I gotcha! One would think to just move on but sounds like they're working too hard to get on a local website and forum which raises another red flag.

Ask any sworn peace officer....   ... they ain't got time for all that paper work.

@Strife : So they get to pick & choose what laws they enforce or don't enforce due to the paper work ?

bbk : I think you commented on the wrong thread, lol. However, it is unlawful, or goes against the rights of citizens, for officers to sit and wait for impaired persons on the premises (bars, clubs, ect.) of where the alcohol is being consumed.

@eighteen : So the officers have to wait till they see someone driving all over the road even crossing the center line into on coming traffic ? Or speeding or driving way to slow ? Seriously ?

@bbk : That's my understanding.

@bbk : It was sort of a joke but its also my understanding that everytime an officer writes a citation they do have to follow up with possible court dates etc if the citizen chooses to go that route.

As was stated by others though that sitting outside of a bar and trying to breathalyze every person that walks out of a bar is not realistic. For one it is profiling not everyone person who happens to walk through the front door of a bar has been drinking.

Secondly merely walking out of a bar does not create probable cause that a crime has been commited. Moreover even if they did catch someone they have what, a drunk in public?

They also would not have time for all that drunk in public paperwork.

@Strife : If you lost a child due to a drunk driver would you want to hear or see what all you just wrote here . The officers paper work is a part of their job . We had a person walk into one of our HOA meetings a few years back really drunk & screaming & yelling . One of our precinct 4 officers got him into his police car & took him home is what some in the room said .. I have no idea if he got any kind of ticket or not . Perhaps that officer saved a life that night .I'm not against drinking I drink upon occasion. But I don't drink & drive . Of course it's easy for me because my hubby doesn't drink & has never been a drinker . But as far as profiling I'd think you could spot a drunk person right off .I'm not talking about testing every person out the door .I'm talking about testing the ones even I know they are drunk . The ones that everyone knows their drunk .

If two young girls are home alone and he kicks in the back door and enters the home, would deadly force be justified?

@BLAZE : What difference does it make ? What if it's 2 young boys ? What if it's an 80 yr old grandmother or grandfather a mom or dad . Are any of them in a SAFER position than the 2 young girls ? If they break in to your home you didn't invite them in so you are in immediate danger . So hit the panic button on your car to draw attention to your home & grab your gun . This is a very serious situation when they have entered your home .

Sorry if the ease of predicting the description of perpetrators upsets you. It fascinates me, and I'm very good at it. It's my job.

@BLAZE : What do you do for a living, law enforcement of some sort?

I heard the subject of this story is the deceased young man who was shot in the bayou last night. Very sad that he was apparently unable to get away from this type of environment.
