@brightlights : I didn't see any can openers for 70% off but I might go look. Wait...why would I need one?

@brightlights : Those things have pop tops, right? I'll just live on cookies and candy and be able to say it was all I had.

@brightlights : I was probably 4 when I last had them but most have those pop tops! I'd eat them if I was really hungry.

chasinghosts : I am the same way, throughout hurricane season I try to keep a good supply of healthy dry foods that I can eat without any refrigeration or cooking. Things like granola bars, canned tuna, kind bars, almond butter, crackers, jerky and dried fruits and nuts.

@Weathergirl5 : I'll do any of that but the tuna, husband might though. I got myself Little Debbie peanut butter chocolate bars, I can eat them every day .

Haven't had an electric can opener in decades. The pantry is full of assorted non perishable food stuffs. If we go longer than 2-3 days were out of here. During Allison in '83 we were without power for three weeks. First thing we did was cook everything in the freezer and eat it. Ate good for a week, then n to the can goods. It was an adventure and my old scouting skills came in handy.

@brightlights : When I bought a hand held KitchenAid can opener I gave my electric can opener to Goodwill. I went crazy & bought a bunch of these . Our kids got rid of their electric openers also . I have paid mostly $8.oo for all the ones I've bought but I have pd more than $12.00 . There a great inexpensive gift to give a family member like a grandmother or friend for no other reason than I love you & thought you'd like this .This thing is soooo easy to work no hard squeezing on the handle at all . A young child could work this opener . I just checked Amazon they range on there from $9.99 all the way up to $15.98 I use to purchase them from Burkes outlet & also Stein Mart . They are wonderful ! .I have had the same one I use every day for 7 yrs .

@brightlights : Yes, Kitchenaid aren't too good anymore. We gave up on the electric, because they don't work more than a month and then start having problems, and with the new cans they have out sometimes don't work at all. Just wondering did it **** anyone off when Ocean Spray changed their cans a few years ago and you couldn't get the cranberry sauce out easily?
