Kingwood Homeowner Shoots and Kills Car Burglar

For Immediate Release September 2, 2021

On September 02, 2021 at about 9:00 PM the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received several
911 calls reporting a burglary and later a shooting in the 22700 block of Adrift Row Lane, Porter,
Texas. During investigation, MCTXSheriff Homicide/Violent Crimes Detectives were advised that a
homeowner received an alarm indicating motion in their driveway. Upon going outside, the
homeowner discovered an unknown male inside their vehicle. The homeowner ordered the male out
of his vehicle at gun point. The suspect refused to comply with the homeowner’s instructions and
made the statement “I’m not going back to prison” then became uncooperative and aggressive. During
the altercation, the homeowner discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect was
pronounced deceased upon the arrival of medical staff.

The circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm are currently under investigation by
multiple law enforcement agencies including MCTXSheriff, Texas Rangers and the Montgomery
County District Attorney’s Office, and no further details are available at this time. The deceased is a
23 year old white male with a local address whose identify cannot be released pending notification of
next of kin.

It is sad that it has come to this. However, it looks like this is the action innocent people will need to take to protect their life & property.

If he didn't want to go back to prison, maybe he shouldn't have made the choice to break into someone's vehicle. I feel bad for the homeowner, I'm sure he didn't wake up with the intention of killing someone. As far as the perp, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

It's a win/win situation: the homeowner protected his life and property and the criminal didn't go back to prison as he wished.

@Reese : I am curious about that myself.

I wonder if crime will go down if criminals have no clue who might be packing a gun now?

@CougarsRock : Protecting your property stops rising insurance. Even if it doesn't happen to us, it has an effect on everyone's insurance rate.
