Constable Mark Herman's Office Warns of Scams

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of scam artists out there trying to take advantage of folks during these trying times.
No legitimate company is going to ask for log in information, account numbers, personal identification information, etc.

Be very cautious what information you give out online or over the phone.
Also be cautious making local purchases online. If a seller is asking for money up front or in advance, be cautious doing business with them.

Be careful of contractors as well, including plumbers, repairmen, etc. Unfortunately there are those out there that will try to take advantage of people. Be wary of any contractor asking for payments up front, such as payments for supplies or services not yet provided, or up-charges for “priority” services.

“Everyone needs to pay close attention, criminals will use every opportunity when we are most vulnerable.” - Constable Mark Herman

Sad thing is....I was hoping to hear some "tough talk" from "Governor Abbott" about these common rip-off schemes, especially since they are so wide-spread....Not to mention at least some "re-assurance" that companies/businesses won't be able to take advantage of folks who experienced home/structure "damage" and other such losses....

@EddyFree : Not to think we would hear anything worthwhile from him anyway, but it would be false hope to even believe that could happen. You can't regulate people when customers won't even help to regulate them. Just letting any fly by night into your house to do work is dangerous. If they can't show you a union card with their D/L or references that can be checked, and you use them anyway, it's probably the consumer's own fault if something goes awry.
