Humble Rodeo BBQ & Cook-off Starts January 28!

Come out to the Humble Rodeo & BBQ Cook-off, January 29 - February 6. Bring your family and experience all the fun with music, food and much more.

These two fun-filled weekends impact students’ lives by providing funds to support innovative education projects in classrooms across Humble ISD and in turn, preparing students for their successful future.

In February of each year, educators share their innovative ideas with us and thanks to our supporters, we can make those dream projects come true. Last year alone, the Foundation funded a total of $848,100 in grants across Humble ISD. So when you come out to these two weekend events, just know you are having a great time for a great cause - Humble ISD educators and students!

I'm on the Rodeo and BBQ Executive Committee, VP over Logistics and Children's Events. Been at the Convention Center since last Saturday putting the Cook Off together. Tomorrow over 100 teams will start doing their best to win the title if Grand Champion Cooker. The title includes an invitation to the National Finals Cook Off later this year. Saturday Morning in the Kids Q event, children 5-10 and 11-15 will compete in a pork chop and open category. So much fun watching these youngsters cooking over a grill.

Next weekend is the Rodeo. The Humble Arena is classified as an open air facility, but we are restricted under State guidelines to a 50% capacity so seating is limited. Tickets are available online at Humblerodeo.com . FFA and 4H students will again compete for the coveted Silver Belt Buckle in the Calf Scramble and Shoot Dogging Events Friday and Saturday night. The always popular Mutton Busting featuring young cowboys and cowgirls holding on the best they can on the back of a sheep shooting out of the gate.

Two great weekends of fun with all proceeds benefiting the Innovation Education Grants for Humble ISD Educators.

Might see us there. How much are Rodeo tickets this year? I haven't heard if our friends at Texan GMC and WLH are in the cookoff this year. If so we'll be at their party.
