I think this is a wonderful idea, because who really knows how many families have been affected financially through the past 6 months.

That's kind of conflicting info. It says all children In the community 1-18 Then it says must have a school id number.

Proof of enrollment ? I think everyone has been effected in some way, so this will expedite helping the ones needing it most.

Don't bash me, I'm just curious is all. 😬

Why would they do this?

I know many have been financially challenged during covid but not everyone needs this kind of assistance.

We've been affected by covid because we lost our healthcare through our company and we now have to pay our premiums ourselves. We still make too much to qualify for "Obamacare" discounts and we certainly make too much to qualify for free school lunches according to the previous standards.

I don't feel the need to ask any questions. I would never ever argue with children being fed (not my place to determine "eligibility"... you just never know, even if you think you do).

@Ladyfairlane :
Why would they do this?

It may be because food programs are supported through State and Federal programs. Its a use it or loose it kind of situation

@bap :

I guess I just feel that the extra money could better serve things like more protection for teachers who fear that they may get covid by showing up for work.

I'm still hearing that teachers are very fearful.

Maybe better technology for parents that do not want to send their kids back to school but have dated computers or phones. (Maybe there's not enough extra for that though)

Idk, just seems weird to me but happy that others can partake, I guess.

@brightlights :

I would never question that either but "Eligibility" is the key word though. It's always been that way.

@Ladyfairlane : You mean for free/reduced? You're right about that. No real "vetting" process, but again, you never really know. Those who scam the system...well, that's on them and their consciences. I let go of that a long time ago.

Yea, your right but I'm against the "free pass" to scam.

Idk about in the school, but the pickup food is pretty bad at Huffman. All kids get free lunch there for the past 3 years? The only stuff that's really edible is prepackaged.
