So of a criminal sees the police checking your house, won't they know you aren't home? Kind of like the labeled pet sitting cars.

@BusyMommy : I don't think they physically check the property unless something looks amiss during a pass through on patrol. Just a guess but you have a valid thought.

@ParksideRes : They do actually park their patrol car and physically check the property. They check all doors and walk the perimeter.

I understand They make a pass on your street. They don't actually check unless something gives them reason.

I did this when I was gone for 2 weeks in May. During my trip I received a text from a neighbor asking me if everything was ok, because she saw the cops at my house. I told her I signed up for vacation watch. I told 1 neighbor but not the other.

So.....if you do sign up, tell your neighbors!! Lesson learned!!

@yomom : Wrong! I was told by the constable's office they would actually stop by the home more than once a day and walk the whole perimeter, checking doors and windows etc. It's good but I also think it lets everyone know you're away. That's why I have cameras and alarms set at all times.
