In the past few days a new trend has emerged where phone scammers are identifying themselves as Constable Mark Herman on the phone in order to gain the trust of our citizens, setting them up for financial loss.
In one case, an elderly victim was at a bank withdrawing $1,400.00 when an alert bank teller became suspicious. The teller contacted Constable Deputies and a criminal investigation was initiated. The scam was prevented by the action taken by the bank teller and Constables. The following day, four more calls were reported to our office involving this same approach by the scammers.
"The Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 4 will never call you to solicit payment, if you receive a call like this, you are urged to contact our dispatch at 281-376-3472." - Constable Mark Herman
I received a recorded call today saying there had been suspicious activity with my social security number. I decided to have some fun this time so I listened to the end and held for a rep to answer, which was immediately. There was a weird babbling in the background before the crook idiot actually addressed me. I asked him what he wanted and he started laughing, mocking, cursing and told me to s**k his (private part). I laughed and told him he didn't have one. He had no reply and quickly hung up. I don't think he or his criminal friends will be calling back.
