The National Weather Service and Hurricane Center are making sure gulf coast residents are aware that heavy rain could be in the forecast for this weekend.

UPDATE: The below graphic is the latest update from the National Weather Service.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be ready! --> www.readyharris.org

A broad low pressure system is located on this Tuesday morning over the eastern Florida Panhandle, producing disorganized shower activity. The low is forecast to move southward to southwestward and emerge over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico later today. Once the system is over water, environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for tropical cyclone formation, and a tropical depression is likely to develop by late Wednesday or Thursday while the system moves westward across the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Interests along the Gulf Coast from the Upper Texas coast to the western Florida peninsula should monitor the progress of this system. Regardless of whether or not a tropical cyclone forms, this system has the potential to produce heavy rainfall along portions of the northern and eastern U.S. Gulf Coast later this week.

I hope whole Kingwood drainage issue has been resolved. People are fixing their homes and it would be awful for that developer to flood them again.

Still early, but looking more like the middle of Louisiana. We may not even get any rain at all. Better solutions tomorrow.

@ladybeachbum :

Exactly, I doubt we will even catch any rain period. The storm has shifted.

@BusyMommy : I agree, it's been so hard on them.

@RocketsHouston : It was a mob scene at Aldis today in Kwood. I just went ahead and bought some healthy dry foods and snacks while I was there thinking about it. If it doesn't hit it's here for next time it does.

@chasinghosts : I am the same way, throughout hurricane season I try to keep a good supply of healthy dry foods that I can eat without any refrigeration or cooking. Things like granola bars, canned tuna, kind bars, almond butter, crackers, jerky and dried fruits and nuts.
