"Dear Atascocita Middle School Parents:

At approximately 7:55 a.m., one of our seventh-grade students was struck by a car. The student was crossing Tournament Trails near the dance studio when an eastbound car hit him. EMS was called and the student's parent was at the scene. The student was conscious and walked to the ambulance with assistance. He was transported to the hospital accompanied by his parent. We would like to thank the parents, members of the community and our staff for quickly attending to the student's needs, directing traffic, and making the scene a safer place for all.

Karl Koehler
Principal"

Great job to everyone who put their own business aside to help this morning! Emoticon

So glad he's going to be ok.
My son's friend was hit in Kingwood a few years ago, and he was never able to walk again.

He is going to be fine. He is a friend of my daughter. You would think after knowing what happened to your friend earlier in the day would cause you to be a little more careful, right? Not my kid. Last night after choir she darts out in front of a car in the parking lot. So scary because she didn't look and it was dark out. And it isn't like we don't tell her to watch for cars every single day. So thankful the car was going slow and was watching.

@tori6749 : Not life threatening, yes. But not as benign as the message sent out by the school. It is quite understated.

@Fairlane67 : I agree. But it also isn't as horrible as some of the misinformation I was receiving when it first happened. Thankful it wasn't as bad as that and he is going to be fine. Sad that it happened in the first place.

It's not the schools place to report and keep everyone updated on the child's condition. I thought their email was appropriate.

@+1 :
Agree, not to release personal info. But there is info that is in that statement, that is outright misinformation. No need for you to be concerned though.

@lynnsgirl : That's so true. Then there are those who almost run down kids when they are getting off/on the buses. They all should be dealt with to the max.
