A 17-year-old female was taken to the hospital on Tuesday for a self-inflicted gunshot wound she got while her and a couple of friends were playing with an AK-47.
According to reports from PCT 4, on December 4, 2018, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the 4000 block of Wintergreen Drive in the Atascocita Forest subdivision in reference to a female with a gunshot wound.
Upon deputies arriving, the female advised that she was shot by an unknown suspect during a drive-by shooting. However, witnesses stated that the female was actually carrying a firearm, described as an AK-47. She was reportedly carrying the gun in her pants when she accidentally fired it and shot herself in the right foot.
The juvenile male that was accompanying her concealed the weapon in a nearby storm drain.
The female was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Constable Deputies recovered the AK-47 and discovered that it was stolen from a residence in the 3900 block of Atascocita Road earlier that day.
The female and the juvenile were identified as the suspects in the burglary.
"Constables are seeking charges for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Burglary of a Habitation on the 17 year old female who will remain unidentified at this time. The juvenile male was arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Tampering with Evidence and Burglary of a Habitation." - Constable Mark Herman
