The Harris County Sheriff's Office Vehicular Crimes Unit has charged a local teen with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter after the car he was driving crashed and killed his two passengers, both of whom were Atascocita High School students.
According to reports from HCSO, just after midnight on 07/25/2018, Jaggar Clayton Smith (17) was operating his 2008 Nissan Altima southbound in the 18300 block of Timber Forest with passengers Salma Gomez (16) and Chloe Robison (16) in the vehicle.
Smith was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The Nissan left the roadway traveling southeast into the center median, rotating counter clockwise.
The right side of the Smith's vehicle struck a tree and the force of the collision caused the vehicle to break in two.
The front portion of the vehicle then rotated clockwise coming to a controlled rest in the median.
The rear portion of the vehicle continued to rotate southeast striking another tree in the median.
The back right passenger of the vehicle (Robison) died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
The front right passenger (Gomez) was transported to Memorial Hermann northeast where she later died due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Smith was transported to Houston Northwest Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and arrested on two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.
