The Harris County Sheriff's Office Vehicular Crimes Unit has charged a local teen with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter after the car he was driving crashed and killed his two passengers, both of whom were Atascocita High School students.

According to reports from HCSO, just after midnight on 07/25/2018, Jaggar Clayton Smith (17) was operating his 2008 Nissan Altima southbound in the 18300 block of Timber Forest with passengers Salma Gomez (16) and Chloe Robison (16) in the vehicle.

Smith was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The Nissan left the roadway traveling southeast into the center median, rotating counter clockwise.

The right side of the Smith's vehicle struck a tree and the force of the collision caused the vehicle to break in two.

The front portion of the vehicle then rotated clockwise coming to a controlled rest in the median.

The rear portion of the vehicle continued to rotate southeast striking another tree in the median.

The back right passenger of the vehicle (Robison) died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The front right passenger (Gomez) was transported to Memorial Hermann northeast where she later died due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Smith was transported to Houston Northwest Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and arrested on two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.

This is absolutely horrific. Can't even almost imagine getting a phone call like that. Lifting all of these families in a blanket of prayer this week. Emoticon

Horrible tragedy. Unfortunately it was another opportunity for us to talk to our own AHS teenagers about what to do if they ever find themselves about to get into a car with someone who has been drinking.

I was that kid that got in the car once. I'm lucky to be here and have my own kids.

@Palm Springs : I've only seen the e-mails that were sent to parents and staff.

If it wasn't already known here, one of the girls was the daughter of a staff member at AHS.

Sending up prayers for all the families involved and for the friends of these kids. Hug your kids and talk, talk and then talk some more about drinking and driving. Promise to come get them without being mad.

My heart and prayers go out to these families. There is nothing worse than losing your child. We've been through this. Please all parents hug your kids, tell them you love them and remind them why they should never drink or drug and add driving to the mix. These hearts have been broken and mending them is not easy. Think of others before you get behind the wheel. That goes for speeding too. There is nothing more sacred than a life.

@Ortega : We are a community.....we all have each others' backs. We are all heart broken, have compassion for the families and children affected by this horrific tragedy. I have spent most of my day crying my eyes out......they are raw. BTW: I do not know the kids or the families, but that is truly caring and feeling compassionate for everyone whose world was blown apart forever. You will see that ADC is a family, we truly care for one another and I as many other posters don't know each other personally, ADC posters will be praying with every fiber of our being for strength, guidance, healing. and help to ease all of our pain....for especially the Gomez family, the Robison family and the Smith family,
I apologize for my rudeness, no sleep and shot nerves...happiness
just drowned in the tears. Welcome!!!! Look forward to your next post. Emoticon

The penalty in Texas is 2 to 20 years in prison. with a possibility of doubling that. This kid is looking at a potential of 80 years. Young people are you paying attention? The sorry thing is he will most likely get 2 years and parole minus time served so that equals nothing for two crushed families and the death of two young girls.
