Deputies from the Harris County PCT 4 Constable's Office are looking for a suspect who stole equipment from a resident then sold the items to a local pawn shop.

According to reports from PCT 4, on January 11, 2018, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's office were dispatched to the corner of Aerobic Avenue and West Lake Houston Parkway in Atascocita in reference to a theft.

Upon arriving, deputies learned from the complainant that several pieces of equipment and tools had been stolen from the bed of their truck. Investigators with Constable Herman's Criminal Investigations Division discovered that the defendant, later identified as John Plair (42, Humble) had sold the complainant's property at a local pawn shop.

John Plair now has a warrant out for his arrest.

“Based on the evidence obtained during this investigation, the defendant, John Harvey Plair, was charged with felony Theft with no bond out of the 230th Harris County District Court. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you are urged to call our dispatch or your local law enforcement."– Constable Mark Herman

It would be great to know what pawn shop these items were sold. This is why I avoid them as much as possible.

@cbp210 : I have not seen a good deal at any pawn shop in years. Better to just buy what you need new, not much difference in price.

This reminds me of a serious issue I've procrastinated on for way too long. Maybe gun owners on here can help. Years ago when I was younger and dumber I pawned my new pistol to have some money to go out of town with friends (insert eye roll). Later I missed the deadline to get the gun out and so they kept it. Now if that gun is sold would they be registered to it or is my name still on it?
I know I should've checked into this along time ago but I have the attention span of a gerbil.

There is no such thing as "registration" in the state of Texas. The pawn shop would've had to fill out a yellow form when they sold the gun, so the gun could be tracked back to the pawn shop.... Now IF the authorities wanted to pursue it further, I'm sure they could do so... This is what I've been told anyway.

@LuGar : Its on the pawn shop, I think the their may be list of people names that have owned the gun if you run the serial number but their is no national or local registration for guns. The only reason I say that about the serial number is I own a smith and wesson and you can pay like 50 dollars for the history of the gun that includes persons name who bought it in the past. Also depends on the age of the gun. Go back about 30 or 40 years and no one knows jack about who owns what gun.

No bond? Half the drunk killers get out on bond. So stealing is worse than killing?

I hope he is locked up for the rest of his life. And I agree, I have never stepped foot in a pawn shop.

@carol888 : from my understanding they have only issued a warrant, but the charge says no bond.
