Deputies will have to wait for an autopsy before they can piece together the details of what happened to an Atascocita man whose body was found in his home Tuesday afternoon.

According to Harris County Sheriff's Office Senior PIO Deputy "Gil" Gilliland, on Tuesday, November 21, at around 12:30 PM, a call came into PCT 4 about a woman (WF) acting erratically in the road. A Deputy was dispatched to the location near the intersection of Timber Forest Dr. & Upper Lake Dr. and located the white female sitting on the curb.

Once contact was made, the Deputy asked the woman for an ID. She looked disheveled and seemed a little confused, but said her ID was at her house. The Deputy offered to drive her to her home in the 5300 block of Dove Forest in the Atascocita North subdivision.

Once they arrived, the Deputy asked if he could enter the home with her, to which she agreed. As soon as the Deputy entered the house, he was overcome by the unmistakeable smell of a decaying body. As he made his way to one of the bedrooms, he located a deceased person lying in bed.

The body was believed to be the 57-year-old white male who resided at the house and was the woman's husband and primary caretaker. However, the length of time and the amount of decomposition made it very hard to confirm exactly who he was or why he had died.

The Constable Deputy immediately called for the HCSO Homicide Unit, as is standard for these types of cases. The medical examiner took the body to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to start his investigation into cause of death. Also, because of her non-cohesive state, the woman was seen by the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) on-scene and then taken to a facility to have her mental status and overall health examined.

This is obviously still an ongoing investigation that will mostly rely on the results of the autopsy of the deceased male. If you have any information on this case, please contact HCSO Homicide at 7132749100. Reference case #HC17-184884.

@Hwyten
Maybe they didn't go to church? That being the case are you suggesting that Christians need to be doing dead body checks door-to-door?

If so, that's a pretty tall order. Most of us won't answer the door for any solicitor.

Poor woman must have been so overwhelmed. I hope she receives the help she needs.

@lana7018 why the sarcasm ...you know what I mean but I'll treat you like a child if that's how you want to be treated... get to know your neighbor... be friendly ...this might have been all avoided... there you go, now run along and go play

@Lakelady get to know your neighbors... be friendly... you might be stopping the next case like this... it was posted so we can learn from our mistakes as a community and try to help avoid the next one ...it's beyond me why people out there just don't get it and are so self-absorbed

@lana7018 lol... my point exactly... the church should be out in the neighborhoods, seeing who needs help and helping the community... not hard to figure out what I was saying
