Here more info on new schools:
"The Humble Independent School District continues to make headway on securing land for their new schools and their design plans for the new locations.
At their most recent board meeting, Oct. 13, the Humble ISD Board of Trustees approved the design development documents for Middle School #9 which will be located in The Groves, off of West Lake Houston Parkway.
“We are one step closer to the approval of the construction plans so we still have another step in the approval process until it’s a done deal,” Dr. Roger Brown, Humble ISD assistant superintendent of support services, said. “As of right now, we know what the exterior of MS #9 will look like but we do not have any further drawings or plans for that yet.”
They also announced that Humble ISD officially closed on a 155-acre plat of land for the district’s High School #7 on West Lake Houston Parkway, south of Lone Star College-Atascocita satellite center and Lakeshore Elementary.
At their March 2015 meeting, Humble ISD board members approved the company, Joiner Architects, to develop the design for Middle School #9 and carry out the implementation.
Middle School #9 will be an approximately 204,000 square-foot facility that can house up to 1,050 students.
The funding for Middle School #9 will come from a bond passed by the voters in 2008.
Also funded through the 2008 bond, progress continues on Humble ISD’s Elementary 28 which will be situated in The Groves, adjacent to Middle School #9.
“We are on track to have the construction bids out in January 2016 then have the groundbreaking ceremony for ES #28 and start turning dirt in March 2016,” Brown said in a previous interview. “Elementary #28 will sit at the intersection of Madera Run Parkway and Timber Forest Drive which will be extended.”
They plan to have Elementary #28 open to students, teachers and faculty in the fall of 2017.
“We are expecting to start working on the build-out of the school around April 2016 and it will be open in the fall of 2018,” Brown said. “We are expecting to start working on construction of the MS #9 around April 2016 and it will be open in the fall of 2018.”
The district currently has $155 million in authorized unsold bonds from the bond election in 2008.
This will cover the costs of all the land purchases and construction for elementary #28, elementary #29 and middle school #9 but they will have to put together a bond referendum that is approved or not approved by the voters. They hope to possibly bring that bond referendum before voters in 2018.
Additional Humble ISD projects include a project made viable by the Houston Sports Authority who recently gave the district $800,000 toward the district for additional parking at Turner Stadium."
