This is all ********. That is what it is! That is where the line is drawn in the sand between the importance of making the funds vs the importance of our kids and teachers health.

I see a lot of fall out from this. The lack of concern, yet cramming it down our throats in multiple emails everyday about new cases is very concerning and quite frankly hypocritical.

I really need to think about whether or not a school district more focused on the all mighty dollar in this case is the school district for my kids. Wow.

@DaycareMom : Fagan said the district gets the same amount of money regardless of if students are on campus or online. However, I did read that superintendents get a bonus based on student performance. Since the grades dropped like a hot potato during online education, this could factor into the decision.

They are currently saying Covid doesn't spread at school. I'm glad that virus can read the signs and knows not to go onto the campuses.

I understand that as the info gets better they can make better decisions. But seems very questionable when they wait until after we cross the threshold to announce these better decisions. Everyone knew this day was coming. They could have made and announced these changes before the holiday break.

I'm not at all surprised. This should be a no-brainer.

If bars are dangerous hot spots, how is a school cafeteria not a hot spot?

@daddyo9 : WOW ! stayed up to watch ( My spouse is Aldine ISD , their meeting ended at 8 pm) Not moving the goal posts but tearing them out of the ground and throwing them away !! My DH fortunately found a local pharmacy that had leftover vaccines from a health care clinic and was giving them out instead of letting them expire so he has some piece of mind. He also works in the wellness center along side the school nurse when anyone turns up sick. Funny how he`s labeled a " front line worker " when theirs a disaster to open the school for whatever the county needs and the president labeled teachers " front line workers" during the pandemic to get the schools open yet the Governor does not count them that way for vaccines ????

Getting a lot of traction off those words - "new" and "novel". Corona has been around for more than a few minutes now. We can stop throwing the baby out with the bath water and blaming it on the fear of the unknown.

Do you feel our governor has handled this well?

@lynnsgirl : not at all. too busy sucking up to the president! He`s vaccinated so what does he care. This state has never gave teachers and school staff the respect and needs to operate effectively. opening schools was a priority and the heck with their needs.

Doubt anything will change, will need something major like kids or teachers starting to die from Covid. Just the attitude of getting rid of plans and trying to justify it with bogus reasons that could be looked at either way. Comments and statements all geared to push the choice they made, seemed so censored.

Just got the school calendar for 2020-2021. What a hot mess of busy-ness?

If your calendar looks more complicated than the Texans offensive playbook, there's snowballing bulls hit going on.

Looking forward to getting the results in from one of those STAAR tests. Don't seem to remember them doing that in a while...

@BananaRepublica : What's complicated about it? Seems pretty clear-cut to me.

@brightlights : I feel the same way about end of year testing to gauge the quality of public education.
