Need help with holiday gift baskets.

Looking for reliable and reasonably priced sites that deliver. Specifically a mix of sweet and salty treats would be great. Thanks.

@Cbear : Wish I could help with that, but have not used any of these services from these companies. I usually make my own. Hope somebody can fill you in on some good and reliable sources. Good Luck! Emoticon

@LeverageShowFan : I thought about making my own but I am not very creative. How do you go about yours if I may ask? One needs to be shipped to Ohio and the other to Magnolia, TX.

@Cbear : Harry & David. Make sure you get the Moose Munch and add some of their trademark pears!

These are just a few ideas. I'm not sure if this is even close to what you have in mind, but it may give you some ideas?

Red shred filler (Hobby Lobby) - good for gift baskets (Probably can find other colors as well)

Sometimes I like to incorporate a gift: For example this three tiered wooden tray set filled with goodies and wrapped with a colored cellophane secured with a ribbon and a bow to keep everything intact.

@Cbear : Teeheehee .... I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I basically have seen different types of baskets at the grocery store (especially during Valentine's Day) where they pull together different items in a basket with colored cellophane and ribbons for an decorative effect. I made some baskets that have included (for example) Blue Diamond Almonds, packages of chocolate dipped pretzels (white chocolate & also the dark chocolate), some candy canes or some Christmas candies (if it's a Christmas basket), some type of Ghidardelli brand chocolates (several different varieties available) and/or Lindt Lindor.

@LeverageShowFan : Those are cool pictures. I wonder if I could do a "test" basket for my own family and see how it looks. I think I will. Thanks again.

I took a basket making class last year, they have classes thru the Houston Public Library. It was a lot of fun, I learned how to put the baskets together inexpensively...good luck to you. Emoticon

@Cbear : It has been a while since I made baskets, but I remember getting the Blue Diamond Almonds on sale. I take advantage of every coupon, sale, and/or discount I can get. It will be the same wonderful gift basket whether or not you get discounts. You may as well check on sales and discounts.

Thanks for the responses and the tips in getting started. I am going to do a test basket for my own family and see if I am proud or it or ashamed. Getting started this weekend. It will be cold out anyway.

@Cbear : I like brightlights' suggestion!!! Harry and David may be a good way to go also. In that way, you will save time and not have to worry about pulling everything together. It will probably cost about the same anyway you go. Ultimately, it will be your decision. Lol ... we are just here to give suggestions & ideas! Whatever you decide .... I know the recipients will appreciate that you thought of them. Emoticon

Aldi has some fantastic imported Belgian chocolates and nuts, btw (better than you'll find at other places). And several imported, unique snacks as well!

@LeverageShowFan : I wondered about the cost too. By the time you get the basket and it's decor plus the food...probably about the same amount. These professional places probably get discounts on the materials which helps. We shall see!
