MrsT : Eliot Spencer's adversary on one of the Leverage episodes said: " You said you didn't like guns." Eliot's comeback was: "I don't." ………….. "Never said I couldn't use them."

@LeverageShowFan : That's also a line from Quigley Down Under.

@ HumbleGirl

Good for you. But do it right. Safety can't be stressed enough. Anf if you take a CHL class you'll be surprised at the limitations for use. This ain't Dodge City.....thank goodness. Prepared Mom again. Well done.

@Humbelgirl , Call my DW when the situation of distancing gets better and I am sure she will want to sharpen her skills and meet you at a range. I made the mistake many years ago and challenged her to a target contest…. Well she put me in my place. I know better than to challenge her or get her mad at me..lol. Her dad taught her at a young age to shoot his "Dirty Harry " 44 magnum using playing cards as a target. She has her license also. What can you say of 100% Texas Grown Women… You just don't argue with them, you lost with the first word.

@Clydepuckett : Good to know. We have the movie "Quigley Down Under" in our collection. I will have to check it out by watching the movie again. Have not seen it in a long time so this is a good thing! ………… My source of the quote from the following: Leverage, 15th Episode in Season 3, Episode 43 in Entire Series , Episode entitled "The Big Bang Job."

@HumbleGirl shot a gun, and she liked it.

I recommend everyone take a course. Don't be that couple in St. Louis - lady waving that pistol around like she picked up the wrong coffee cup at Starbuck's.

@Humblegirl or anyone else, remember after you take the CHL class you have been educated, and there will be no forgiveness by the law for ignorance of the State Law. I.e., The more accurate shooting you do on the test at your class, can be used in a case for accidental collateral damage when using your gun for self-defense. I guess what I am trying to say is be aware it is a huge responsibility and do not take it lightly. But take the class, get educated.

I'm not planning to own a gun. I just want more knowledge about them. What if someone has one, how do I know if the safety is on, how many bullets, etc? What if I found a gun or got one away from someone, what next? Things like that.

I definitely will not be a CHL. Not my thing and I feel safe more often than not in this world. I feel more unsafe from the people around me with guns and a hot head or a fearful mind.

@HumbleGirl : That's awesome. I'm like you, my dad, uncle and brother have all taking me shooting before. I had a horrible aim and it scared me every time I pulled the trigger. My uncle took me skeet shooting and I think out of about 50 I hit two. Talk about horrible aim LOL

Understand the mechanics of the ammunition, they are all basically the same . Some type of device has to strike them to set off an ignition from some type of primer that ignites the gun powder, expands and forces the projectile to go in the path of least resistance.

If u find one, whatever, you want to stop this from occurring:
Remove the bullets from the chamber, magazine, cylinder, what have you.

If you are having to tangle with someone who has a gun and you dont, you want to stop their gun from going boom. , you can do this by interupting the pull of a trigger, blocking a hammer from striking a primer (this is a matrix type of move where u pretty much sacrifice your thumb skin or whatever to have the hammer snap on you instead of the bullet)

Different guns eject magazines differently, but it is usually a button or a lever
Even if you eject a mag, there could still be one in the chamber, check it

Thats all i got for now

I had my safety training and some shooting range practice. I feel so much better in my level of understanding.

Highly recommend @tsualum05 if you have any such needs. Super patient, great with teens, extremely safety conscious, and didn't judge me for my poor abilities.
