Same with Robert Downey Jr. He played an Australian actor playing a black guy in Tropic Thunder years ago. Meant to be funny and he played the role brilliantly. Now theres a "movement" to have his career canceled. We all know the horrible history behind black face but its not the same thing this day and age, thats why its called acting. In fact saying white people can only play white roles sounds super racist when you think about it. So yes, I think it is a valid question when people ask why can the Wayans Bros play white chicks, Martin Lawrence had a reoccurring character he did in white face, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, the list goes on. And the way they played it was very stereotypical. If a white person played the role that stereotypical theyd be labeled racist. So why the double standard? Everything is starting to become very hypocritical and double standard these days. Do white people have to forever be apologetically walking on eggshells for sins of their ancestors in a time when it was accepted? Is that progress?
